The usual road traveled from outrageous concept car to production-ready reality can often be a long and bumpy one, but not for the determined team at McLaren and the final P1 masterpiece shown above.

It's been a busy year for McLaren's engineers, as this private unveiling of their production-bound supercar and successor to their F1 legend comes just mere months after the debut of the McLaren P1 concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

While its F1 predecessor has left some very large shoes to fill, we're told the McLaren P1 makes impressive use of all the latest McLaren race technology currently available. The midengined car's body panels are entirely made from carbonfibre to keep the P1 as light as possible and incorporates a stunning yet functional design able to generate roughly 590 kilograms (1,300 pounds) of downforce at 200 kilometres per hour (125 miles per hour).

The impressive final version of the McLaren P1 has been carefully designed to achieve and surpass the company's stated goal of producing a car that is superlative both on the road and and the track. For those of you wondering, the McLaren P1 is scheduled to go on sale near the end of 2013 and pricing has not yet been announced.
