New Ferrari rumoured to have V12 hybrid (Carscoop)

Ferrari Enzo Replacement Rumored to get 920HP V12 Hybrid Powerplant

Like many other carmakers, Ferrari doesn't disclose a lot of details about its upcoming production models, something that leaves plenty of room for speculation and rumors, the latest coming from Motor Trend magazine.

The publication reports that the Ferrari Enzo's replacement will be shown to select customers at a private event this fall before it makes its official world premiere next year, most likely at the 2013 Geneva Salon in March.

More interestingly, the magazine claims that the Italian supercar, which it says will probably be named F70 to continue the tradition that started with the F40 and the F50 (the Enzo was a special exception), will sport a hybrid powertrain.

The report claims that the F70 will likely use a modified version of the 6.3-liter V12 gasoline engine found in the new FF GT and F12berlinetta producing around 800-horses linked to a KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) driveline with a 120HP electric motor. Combined, the two systems will deliver 920HP.

Again, we must stress that Ferrari has not confirmed any of these rumors.
