Ferrari 330GTC - Bonham's Auction Results - Feb 5 - Paris

Sold for €193,200 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Unquestionably one of the best looking and most sporting cars of its generation, the 330 GTC combined the silky smooth nose treatment of the 400 Superamerica with the fashionable 60s 'boat tail' rear of the 275 GTS. It was underpinned by the legendary 275 GTB chassis and had the added benefit of power from the 4 litre 330 GT model. It was a real winner, and most will take the looks over even the enhanced performance of its more powerful successor.

Just 21 of the svelte coupes entered the UK, this one following the debut of the model in Geneva that year would grace the London Motor Show stand in October 1966. Its original scheme was Blue Chiaro with an interior trimmed in beige leather, with light blue carpets and beige headlining. To British spec, in right hand drive form, Borrani wheels completed its guise for the motor show.

As noted on records supplied by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, it was first registered with British plates 'DBY 9D' on November 4th and was sold new to Dr. Richard Wilkins. 6 years later it passed to R.D. Were of Esher, Surrey and by 1980 it was owned by P.E. Voight of Hayward's Heath, West Sussex. In 1985/6 the file with the car notes that its engine was overhauled by Kent High Performance cars. Less than 5 years later it passed into the current distinguished private ownership where it has remained for the last 20 years.

Best described as an older restoration, the car's understated blue Chiaro livery was clearly completed to a high standard as it has worn well over time and still presents well. Its alloy wheels have been refurbished and the chrome remains in very good order also, while the interior, trimmed in fawn leather with dark brown carpets has only light aging. The only noted update to its generally standard specification is a more modern Pioneer stereo. Accompanying the car is a file including bills for its mid-1980s engine rebuild.

An elegant and well presented example of this gentleman's sports car.
