A Car in a Toque, Only in Canada, Eh?!

While doing some morning errands, I took a short cut through a quaint neighbourhood in an artsy part of Calgary's downtown, or belt-line, namely Kensington.  Lots of awesome coffee shops and other craft and/or social oriented businesses.  This part of Calgary is ancient by some comparisons, and has been sufficiently rejuvenated to once again have a focused appeal.  Photographers.  Artisans.  Culinary delights.  And seemingly, also, the holder of automotive art.  Someone has taken the time and effort to acquire the materials, and knit together an entire 'toque' for their car.  Being the car person I am, I decided this was more than worthy of broader exposure.  The details are quite phenomenal, right up to the rather large pom-pom on top!  You might also notice that it has been locked to the car with a cable, like any other car cover.  "A" for Excellent in my books!

NB:  regarding the type of car, my best guess without actually looking is a 1966 Pontiac Parisienne?

UPDATE (January 3 2011) this car and it's toque were featured on the news tonight, and the lady that made the toque was interviewed on Global TV.  She got her inspiration from people coming off the C-Train with leg warmers.  It took her three months to make the car toque.  She also acknowledged that the car was a 1963 Pontiac Stratochief.
