Monterey, California (April 15, 2011) –   This 1967 Pickett Racing 427 Corvette historic racer started life as a brand new 1967 427-435HP Tri-power Coupe. Its owner at that time, Dr. Bill Green of California, immediately converted it to an SCCA A/Production racer.  At which point, Dr. Green partnered up with Greg Pickett of Pickett Racing to form the Pickett Racing Team.  They raced in both SCCA National events including Trans Am and IMSA events thru 1976.

Legendary Trans Am racer Greg Pickett's 1967 Pickett Racing 427 Corvette is offered this August in Monterey

Greg Pickett’s racing career spanned over four decades; earning his recognition with his 1967 A/Sedan Camaro.  Mr. Pickett went on to racing fame winning a number of championships in a variety of different cars; he was Champion of the 1978 Trans Am season in a Corvette and he's the only driver in Trans Am history to win a race in each of those decades.
Having raced at some of the most famous tracks in the country like Riverside, Brainerd, Ontario, Laguna Seca, Phoenix Intl. and Sears Point this 1967 427 Corvette raced in groups such as the Trans Am, IMSA, SCCA; including historic groups such as the HMSA, SVRA, VARA, and HSR West from 1967 to 2007.  In 1978 this Corvette, serial #194377S104044, won the last SCCA Regions A Production Championship at Sears Point; gaining a spot in racing history as "The Last A Production Champion.” It was one of the few mid-year Corvette racers to be successful in competing against the newer race cars of the era in the 1970’s.
