An indepth technical review and first real hands on glimpse at the new Porsche Panamera took place this past week at the Weissach R&D facility (Porsche Panamera: In-depth tech briefing and first ride). I have not liked the Panamera from the beginning. But then I too am not a fan of the Cayenne SUV either. But they manufactured their 150,000th recently, so what do I know? I wrote earlier about the breaking story of Porsche's foray into the financial market manipulation game, and walked away with $7B. They only made a billion selling cars?!Competitors to the Panamera include the forthcoming A-M Rapide. As with ALL Aston Martins, style and panache exude from this creation. The Mercedes CLS has also been a favorite of mine with that very classy four door swoop. Truth is though, the CLS begins to appear old when put along side the latest concepts from M-B. These include the Ocean and F concepts. I believe BMW may also enter the fray with their four door concept CS. Bugatti has also shown their approach to that market niche. The Bugatti may be a horsepower king of sorts, but their styling, even the Veyron does not appeal to me.
Below are the A-M, M-Bs and BMW.
